About Abaco

Abaco Islands are located in the northern part of the Bahamas. The Abaco Islands are a group of islands and cays. The place is wonderful for travelers who wish to enjoy all the beauty of clear waters calmly glittering in cozy bays and harbors. The pristine beaches along the coasts are great for visitors. For those who can’t live without the hustle and bustle of a lively city, the Abaco Islands have crowded stores, shops, cafés, and restaurants in downtown areas. The barrier reef of these islands is considered the second largest reef complex in the western North Atlantic. Abaco Islands provide a great opportunity for shallow diving – most of their dive sites are no deeper then 18m/59ft.The islands are mostly surrounded by colorful corals. Tidal currents have created a maze of interconnected tunnels and domed caves inside the main reef. Near the northern part of the island, Walker's Cay dive site consists of multiple mazes, tunnels and deep walls and is also considered the best shark dive site in all the Bahamas. Of the many interesting dive sites at Abaco Islands, the best are: San Jacinto, The Towers, Fowl Cay Preserve, Shark Rodeo, The Adirondack, The Cathedral, Tarpon Reef, The Catacombs.
