About Central Sulawesi

Central Sulawesi is a province of Indonesia located at the center of the island of Sulawesi. Diving in Central Sulawesi is perfect for divers of all levels of experience. The most popular destinations for diving in Central Sulawesi are the Togian Island group, Banggai Islands and Bualemo Peninsula, and Donggala close to Palu. Here, divers can explore a lot of different dive sites and explore amazing reefs, walls, rocks, caves, and wrecks. Central Sulawesi considered it to be a good place for underwater photography.

When to go to Central Sulawesi

Central Sulawesi is a year-round destination with an air temperature around 28-30C/82-98F. March to December is generally considered to be the best time to dive here, because it is the dry season, but conditions are often excellent, even outside this time. The average water temperature is 27-30C/80-98F. Water visibility averages 20-40m/65-131ft. The depth of the dive site is 40m/131ft or more. Currents depend on the season and location.

 

What to see

All dive sites are teeming with rich marine life, including different corals and reef fish species, gray reef sharks, rays, hawksbill turtles, green turtles, dugongs, moray eels, huge schools of blacktail barracudas, frogfish, ribbon eels, and bobtail squid.
