This shallow reef is composed of large staghorn coral formations and is inhabited by a great variety of marine life. However, the area has been known for having some surge problems, so divers should be prepared for that.

When to go

The year round local climate only varies by a couple of degrees from winter to summer. The average daily temperature peaks in July and August at 35C/95F and drops to 27C/80F in January. The storm season lasts from June to October-November.

What to see

Colorful fish, including amberjack, bocayate, frog fish, barracuda, jelly fish, parrot fish, nudibranch, green moray, trigger fish, grouper and others. Next to the reef there is a sea-grassland where it is common to find green sea turtles feeding.
