About scuba diving in Portugal

Portugal is located on the Iberian Peninsula in Southwestern Europe. Portugal supprises its visitors with a beauty of its sea bed, a number of archipelagos, a variety of shipwrecks (some are a few centuries old) and a fantastic diversity of sea life. There are many attractions to explore, both near the surface and deeper down, in caves and rocky recesses with diverse habitats. Divers can observe a wide variety of fascinating sea creatures including octopus, cuttlefish, lobsters, several kinds of starfish and sea horses and, with a bit of luck, dolphins, whales, seals and turtles. Want to scuba dive in Portugal, but aren’t sure where to go? We can guide you in planning your diving trip to Portugal. Part of the reason Portugal is such a popular destination among diving enthusiasts is because of the Azores that are considered to be one of the most beautifull diving places in Europe. The other part is Madeira archipelago which known not only for its clear, warm waters and diverse marine life but also for its famous Madeira wine. Madeira features an impressive underwater scenery with rocky reefs, caves and submerged vessels. On continental Portugal, Peniche, despite its cold seawaters, is also a popular diving destination to discover. Close to the Arrábida Natural Park, Sesimbra is another place much sought after by divers. Further south, the Alentejo coast and the entire Algarve coast offer diving locations teeming with diverse, colourful sea life. It is probably fair to say that divers come to Portugal not just for the thrill of diving here but also to experience its beautifull nature reserves and learn of its history and culture.
