Los Morros de Potosi, located close to Zihuatanejo, is a site where three large white granite rocks protrude from the ocean, providing shelter for pelicans and seagulls. The site is full of wonderful objects to explore like cliffs, caves (one of them is called the Cave of Gertrudis, and a local legend says it was once inhabited by a cat shark Gertrudis), vertical walls, canals and tunnels. This site is recommended for experienced divers because of the strong currents, though some areas for beginners are also available.
When to go
The average water temperature ranges from 25C/73F to 31C/93F. The best months to dive are from October to January, although February, March and July may also present some excellent opportunities for diving.
What to see
The site is full of cliffs, caves, vertical walls, canals and tunnels. There is an abundance of marine life including octopus, manta ray, seahorse, dolphin, sea cucumber, starfish, puffer fish and other species. Between December and March whale sharks, humpbacks and pilot whales can be seen.
