The Japanese wreck is a sunken steel freighter in a black-sand bay in Indonesia that shelters a lot of marine life. It is possible to penetrate the wreck and see various types of corals, sponges, and gorgonians. Snorkeling and free diving are also possible at this site.
When to go
It is possible to dive at the Japanese wreck throughout the year, but the best time to dive is from March to October. There is more rain in January and February. The average air temperature is generally 28C/82F, and the water temperature averages 28-30C/82-86F.
What to see
The Japanese wreck is full of anthias, damselfish, angelfish, pipefish, dragonets, nudibranchs, and crabs. Other species include angelfish, parrotfish, Napoleon wrasses, grouper, octopi, snapper, blennies, and surgeonfish.
