Scuba diving in Kapal Budak
Kapal Budak dive site, located off the northwest coast of Menjangan island, features a 19th century wooden wreck. The history of the wreck is not well documented. The anchor of the ship lies within 6-8m/19-26ft from the wreck. The wreck is not big, however, because of its depth of 35m/114ft and below, divers need some experience to reach it. While exploring the wreck, divers are most likely to see snappers, barracuda and white tip sharks.
When to go
Diving is available year round. The best conditions to dive are between May and November. Air temperatures range from 23C/73F to 30C/86F. The average water temperature fluctuates between 24-29C/75-84F. The water visibility stays within 10-30m/33-98ft. The average depth of the site is 35m/115ft.
What to see
The site has a diverse marine life. An old 19th century wooden wreck full of schools of snappers. Barracuda, morays and white tip sharks can also be seen near the wreckage.
