La Pedrosa is a small islet, situated not far from the shore in the northern direction from L’Estartit harbor. The dive can be done in two ways depending on diver’s experience: either by swimming around the island, or by swimming inside the island through a 70m/230ft-long tunnel that goes across the entire island underwater. The entrance to the tunnel can be found in the crack on the wall where the depth is only 8m/26ft. The tunnel itself is completely straight and wide, reaching 21m/69ft in the middle. On the west side of the island the exit from the tunnel is bigger, about 16m/52ft wide. Those divers who choose to explore the wall around the islet will be amazed by the varieties of beautiful corals, sponges, and anemones that cover the wall all the way down to the sea bottom at a depth of 40m/131ft.

When to go

The dive site at La Pedrosa offers year-round diving, but the best diving conditions are during the summer, when the water temperature rises to 25-26C/77-79F. In winter the water temperature ranges between 13-18C/55-64F.

What to see

Divers can explore a large tunnel inside the islet and the beautiful wall around it, and will see a wide array of marine life, including beautiful corals, sponges, colorful anemones, conger eels, lobsters, octopi, sea bream, groupers, and other marine species.
