The Manta Point dive site in the Maldives, located in close proximity to the Thoddoo Harbor on the northeast side of the island, features an opportunity to swim with numerous manta rays. The best time to see these magnificent marine creatures is the early morning hours, between 7 and 8 am, when they normally gather in this place. The reason why these beautiful creatures have chosen such early hours is unknown, but divers need to be ready for an early wake up.

When to go

The Manta Point site is open for diving all year round, because the warm water temperature stays almost constant at 26-29C/79-84F, providing comfortable conditions for diving throughout the year. However, the best time is from December to May, when there is no heavy rain and the seas are calmer.

What to see

Besides the main stars of this dive site, the magnificent manta rays, divers will have a chance to see moray eels, Napoleon wrasses, stingrays, and some other marine creatures.
