Mundoo Kandu (also spelled Mundhoo Kandu) is located in Laamu Atoll, Maldives and is one of the most-visited channels. The opening is at a depth of 12m/40ft. The currents at this site can be very strong, so strong that divers’ masks can float away in the current. Diving under these circumstances demands full confidence, not only in basic diving knowledge but also in absolute awareness of ones surroundings, dive group/dive partner, depth, oxygen, time, and especially decompression status.

When to go

It is possible to die at Mundoo Kandu year-round. The best time to dive is May to November. The water temperature averages 27-30C/80-86F.

What to see

Divers can find lots of marine creatures, such as schools of jacks, surgeonfish, big-eye trevallies, tuna, dolphins, sharks, eagle rays, barracudas, turtles, wrasses, stingrays, and manta rays.
