The Pasito Blanco Reef is located off the southernmost point of Gran Canaria Island, approximately 2km/1mi from the shore. The reef is oval in shape and features a variety of rock plateaus, ledges, and overhangs covered in beautiful soft corals. This is a favorite dive site for novice and more experienced divers because it boasts a large concentration of marine life at shallower and medium depths. The reef is also known by its local name Chucho, which means stingray, because of frequent sightings of stingrays in the surrounding waters.

When to go

Diving at Pasito Blanco Reef is possible all year round. However, the most comfortable conditions for diving are during the summer, when the water temperature rises to 26C/79F. During the winter the average water temperature can be a bit cool, 18C/64F.

What to see

Divers are most likely to see shoals of roncadors and damselfish that can in some places completely obscure the view of the reef in some places. Stingrays, trumpetfish, barracudas, morays, bream, and black-tailed combers are also frequently seen in the area.
