Sail Rock is located 45 km north of Koh Samui, between Koh Tao and Koh Pha-ngan. The site features a pinnacle 15m/49ft above and 35m/115ft below the ocean's surface. There is a number of smaller pinnacles scattered around the area, but the largest and most attractive part of the dive is the Chimney - large vertical swimthrough, that starts from 18m/59ft below the surface and exits at 12m/39ft and 6m/19ft depths.

When to go

Possible to dive all year with the water temperature varying from 26C/78F to 29C/84F.

What to see

There is an abundance of fish occupying this site, including the area of the chimney. Divers can spot glassfish, scorpionfish, shrimp, moray eels, nudibranchs, sea slugs and anemone fish swimming next to the pinnacle and hiding among the hard and soft corals. Barracudas, jacks, trevally, tuna, mackerel, groupers, wrasses, snapper, angelfish and even the occasional whale shark can be seen here.
