Scuba diving in Simon’s Reef
Simon’s Reef dive site is located in the north east of Gili Air and offers amazing reef diving opportunities. Simon’s Reef is quite deep and only suitable for holders of Advanced Open Water certificate. The coral variety of Simon’s Reef is magnificent and there is an abundance of fish life as well, which varies from the tiniest reef fish to bigger reef species like parrotfish, angelfish and triggerfish. Trevallies, barracudas and tuna are quite common. The site is also well populated with sea turtles.
When to go
Diving Simon’s Reef is possible all year long as the average annual water temperature stays around 28C/82F. Currents are influenced by phases of the moon and can be quite strong, deep depths require experience to dive this site.
What to see
An excellent coral life with many varieties of soft and hard corals, colourful reef fish, barracufas, tuna and sea turtles.
