The site features a channel, about 25m/82ft wide that can be described as river flowing between the islands of Gam and Waigeo. Mangroves and rainforest cover its shoreline and rare archer fish and soft corals can be seen in the shallow areas. This amazing site offers its visitors numerous quiet grottoes, caves, arches and underwater passages. The nutrient rich waters feed a wide variety of marine life. Underwater photographers will truly enjoy this place.

When to go

Diving conditions are good throughout the year. The average water temperature remains around 28C/82F - 30C/86F all year long.

What to see

Schools of jacks, tuna, barracuda, even Wobbegong sharks, as well as turtles, octopus, flatworms, pygmy seahorses and cuttlefish can be seen. Divers can explore bright orange and deep purple sponges as well as gigantic orange sea fans nearly reaching the surface, as well as hydroids, sea pens and sea squirts.
