About Pamplemousses

Some great places for diving are in towns of Pereybere and Grand Bay where there is a wide range of popular diving destinations. A lot of interesting dive sites in this area feature volcanic basalt rocks with crevices and caves, such as Peter Holt's Rock (18m/59ft). Lobster Rock is popular among beginners with its average depth of 20m/65ft, while Tombant de la Pointe aux Canonniers is for seasoned divers only (32-60m/104-196ft). Some other popular dives include Water Lily and Emily Wrecks, Stella Maru WreckRempart Serpent, Coral Garden, and The Tube. The Stella Maru Wreck is a must see as well. 

When to go to Pamplemousses

Diving is possible all year-round. Though the high diving season is from October to December and from March to April. Water temperature ranges from 23 to 29C/73-84F and air temperature ranges from 18-30C/64-86F. Visibility ranges from 20m/66ft to 25m/82ft with its best staying during the months of May through October.

 

What to see

Giant tortoises, moray eels, butterfly fish, snapper, lion fish, stone fish, sea anemones, soft coral growth can be sighted in these waters.
