Panay Island is located in the center of the Philippines on the northwest of Negros Island and southeast of Mindoro Island. Panay Island offers scuba diving opportunities for divers of all levels, from beginners to advanced. Snorkeling is also very popular on Panay beaches. Divers here can explore some wrecks, caves, walls, reefs and rich underwater life, including a variety of coral formations, soft and hard corals, different fish species as well as some pelagics. The most popular diving destination on Panay is Antique Province located on the west side of the island. It has great dive sites for beginners which are also suitable for open water dive courses going up to 18 m/59 ft. There are deeper reefs that start at 5m/16 ft and drop to 40m/131ft, providing challenges for more advanced divers. The bottom is sandy and has great coral formations. The dive sites off the Panay Island were formed by volcanic activities and are not so far away from the shore. Most popular dive sites The most popular sites are Yapak, Angol Point, Crocodile Island, Camia II/Camia Wreck, Balinghai and Channel Steps.
It is possible to dive Panay all year long. The average air temperature stays around 25-32C/78-90F. The average water temperature varies between 23-30C/73-86F with visibility staying around 20m/65ft. Currents are mostly mild although in some areas they can be pretty strong.
